There's an update, must be Thursday (Week 36)

3 weeks from today our son will be born. Wow. That's THIS month. Which, is good 'cause I'm pretty much ready to be able to see my feet again and to be able to breathe with some normality.

The appointment went well today. He's still doing well. Yes, TH is still there but outside of that everything is good and normal.

He's got quite the chubby cheeks, our boy. (Stay tuned for an updated ultrasound photo, hopefully tonight.) He's right around 7 pounds. Apparently that's fairly average but with 3 weeks still to grow I'd say there's a definite probability that he will be heavier at birth than his sister (7 lbs. 13 oz.)

Interesting to note: He is still breech. Most babies (to the tune of 94% according to our doctor) have turned by this point in the pregnancy. Only 3% more turn in the next 3 weeks. Apparently he's decided that he wants to be born by caesarean section even if TH weren't in the picture.

you can safely birth breach babies; only Docs have convinced otherwise.

With all due respect, Anonymous, have you read this blog at all? The fact that he is breach has absolutely nothing to do with his being born by ceserean. It is the tumour that covers a quarter of his tiny back that made the doctors decide that this was the way he is to be born.

I have seen several websites about breach babies being born naturally, I think it's great that the mothers chose to do that. But at this point in the game for us, there is no option. In fact, a natural childbirth was never an option. These words were spoken by two of the leading OBGYNs and the leading pediatric surgeon in our city. And quite frankly, I am much more concerned that Jack is delivered quickly and safely than whether he is born "the proper way". Sorry if you don't agree with that.

Some people...good grief.

I thank God often that we have safe C-sec's available. My breach baby was almost 10 pounds.

Jack will be here soon, and safely. And that's no one's business but his parents (and us rooting/praying him on!)

Yay! What a great update! 7lbs! can you believe it? I can't wait to see that picture of Jack snuggled in your arms.

Glad that things are looking good with Jack. Can't wait to kiss those gorgeous cheeks!

I wish anonymous people who don't have the guts to give their names would just stay out of things that are absolutely none of their business. Harrumph.

I love that boy.

I hate anonymous drive-by's.

I have been reading about your little one for a while now.

Good luck to you as you count down to the big day.

We will be praying for you!

BTW - who is your surgeon (if you live in Winnipeg)? Just curious as our son is a patient of Dr. Hancock at Children's.
